Coffee Concert at The Conservatory.
Coffee Concert at The Conservatory.

I used to study at The Musical Offering record store/cafe (which sadly closed last fall), down the street from the campus in Berkeley. It always played classical music and felt so civilized. So, no surprise this Coffee Concert: Freshly Brewed Baroque caught my eye, and it sounds even more civilized. Performed by members of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale playing period instruments, the program features selections from Telemann, Handel, Bach, and Rebel. Includes coffee and pastries in a gorgeous venue, The Conservatory at One Sansome. 11 a.m. Free admission.

Wednesday, Aug. 13

Robert Reich on the U.C. Berkeley campus.
Robert Reich on the U.C. Berkeley campus.

I don’t have enough space to list all of Robert Reich’s achievements, but here are a few: Rhodes scholar, Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, former professor at Brandeis and U.C. Berkeley, and prolific writer, whose latest book, Coming Up Short: A Memoir of My America, was released last week. Hear him tonight at An Evening with Robert B. Reich: Unscripted. Tickets from $61.

There you have it, fine folks. Enjoy your week. Got events? Let me know: Lynette@thevoicesf.org
