There’s always something to do in our fine city, especially this time of year. Here are my picks for the weekend:

Friday, Aug. 9

For a different live stage performance, go see some uncurated, unedited, experimental theater presented by the Exit Theatre at the 33rd Annual San Francisco Fringe Festival through Aug. 25 at the Cutting Ball Theater. Tickets from $8.

Today through Sunday is the city’s popular Outside Lands Music Festival headlined by The Killers, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sturgill Simpson joined by over 70 others, including Post Malone, Grace Jones, and Tyla. Tickets from $226.

Saturday, Aug. 10

This weekend at Yerba Buena Gardens is the annual Pistahan Parade and Festival, the largest celebration of Filipino Americans in the U.S., featuring art, culinary, dance, health, heritage, innovation, sports, and tavern pavilions; entertainment; food vendors; and more. Free admission.

The San Francisco Vintage Market is the place to go for all things flea and vintage from to ’60s kitsch to the wildly popular Midcentury Modern from 30 or so vendors. 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Fulton Street Plaza. Free admission.

For some backyard party vibes, check out Saturdays in the City (3–8 p.m.) on for some live music and family activities while supporting the street’s merchants. 3–8 p.m. Hayes Street between Gough and Octavia. Free admission.

Sunday, Aug. 11

While it likely won’t be a sunny day at the beach, it won’t stop the fun at Sundays at the Beach on The Great Highway with special events each week. Today is live music by jazz vocalist Raja Hayat at Judah Street. Free admission.

If you’re out late tonight after 11 p.m., find a dark spot with a wide sky view and look up for shooting stars in the northern sky until dawn’s early light (3:30 a.m. Monday), which will be the peak of the Perseids meteor showers. Alternatively, the Chabot Space and Science Center will host a viewing event. Tickets from $7.
