We are committed to accuracy. When we make mistakes, we correct them promptly, transparently, and without burying the correction.

How to Report an Error or Submit a Complaint

If you believe we have made a factual error or have a complaint about our coverage, please contact us at: corrections@thevoicesf.org

Please include the article title, publication date, the specific error you believe occurred, and any supporting information. We take all submissions seriously and will respond in a timely manner.

How We Handle Errors

Upon receiving a complaint, the relevant editor will review the claim and consult with the reporter. If a material factual error is confirmed, we will correct it promptly — typically within 24 hours of verification.

How Corrections Appear

  • Corrections fix factual errors and are appended to the original article with a note identifying what was corrected and when.
  • Clarifications address content that was accurate but potentially misleading, and are similarly noted on the original story.
  • Retractions are reserved for stories that cannot be sufficiently corrected and will be clearly labeled as retracted, with an explanation.

We do not silently alter published stories. All material changes to published content are documented.

Review and Updates

These policies are reviewed annually by the Editorial Director and updated as needed to reflect current newsroom practices and applicable California law and industry standards.
